Students seeking stronger comprehension and students who want to sharpen their analytical reading skills are both welcome.
To focus on the meaning of the passage, students should have enough phonics knowledge and reading fluency to read it. The class introduces a skill they can keep practicing at their own level.

I teach students clear ways to read, explain their thinking, and use evidence. In a live class, I can hear how a student reaches an answer and give feedback right away.

Tracking the plot is an early skill in Advanced Reading Course I. Across eight weeks, students also work on facts, evidence, characterization, perspective, comparison, and nonfiction.
The free class lets your child try one part of that approach before deciding whether to learn more about the course.

Is the class really free?
Yes. There is no charge for this live online class, and booking does not enroll your child in a paid course.
Does a parent need to attend?
No. Parents are welcome to observe, and there is time for parent questions after the student lesson.
What does my child need to prepare?
The reading passage is provided ahead of class so your family can print it. Your child should be ready to read and discuss the passage online.
How will we receive the passage and class information?
The passage will be provided before class. Use the Zoom Scheduler to book an available time; if you have a question about the details, please contact me.
Is the class suitable for Grades 3–8?
Yes. It introduces a reading method for students in Grades 3–8 who can read a passage and focus on its meaning.
Is it only for students who are struggling?
No. Students may join to strengthen comprehension or to sharpen their analytical reading skills.
Do we need to enroll in ARC I afterward?
No. The free class is a chance to experience one ARC I method without committing to a paid course.
